With a VERY special thanks to Rick Castro - whom has tried twice to retire from hosting.

HISTORY of this wonderful outdoor milonga is now in
its 14th year - original creator was Lucille Krasne 1997 (from
her Hit & Run Tango, HIT and RUN TANGO, or Hit n Run Tango, they
were usually just a one time tango dance she set up around town - any
where! for tango dancers to have fun dancing and to expose NYC to tango.

As you can tell this one was a Hit & Stayed!) assisted & then solely continued by Gerald, Art & Rick 1997-98. Rick 98-99. Rick continued with Trey 2000-2004. Trey continued on with
Hernan 2005-2006. In 2007 Trey bribed (ha-ha) "semi-retired host" Rick back due to Hernan taking a tango teaching gig on Long Island!

In 2008 Trey & Rick continue the tradition but have new recruits helping out some this summer, and now in 2010 it is Rick with Gayatri and Yesim asisting as I Trey due to my spine condition am totally out of it and also my final summer with South Street Seaport. Richard Lipkin may take over the SPiCE site as its long continous linkage for Tango and Salsa. - BUT Contact Us if you are interested helping out with this wonderful NYC event! Your Official Host/or DJ's are
Trey Parker, Gaya Martin, Richard Lipkin and Rick Castro. Rick and/or Trey usually do the announcements, Gaya Schedules the Dance Instructors (contact any member if you are interested in Teaching or assisting with this milonga in some capacity).

This milonga is now in its 11th year (1999). The history is;
Ko, Yardiel, Sanae, Karen started this milonga after Yardiel suggested this location as an alternative to a different milonga that was way uptown & indoors from them. Ko was the first Dj, he also came up with the name. Ko, Rick and Trey (plus Dj Guy for several years) have been instrumental in keeping this milonga happening every Sunday since its first year. The rest up to today have all stepped in at one point since to maintain, help, assist in some needed function to continue this great milonga.

In 2004 we created a committee to insure the continuity and excellence of this beautiful summer milonga for all here in NYC, tango dancers from around the world and visitors to learn of its joy we feel it offers to all.

In 2008 the managing structure of the South Street Seaport has changed and as everyone are having more & higher expenses with the major addition of the Seaport Museum Pier Rental Fee. Facing greater financial burdens are now requiring certain proticals & regulations to be followed along with fees for any use of the pier.

Now in 2010 the committe is Rick, Trey, Richard, Gaya and Yesim - Plus if you are interested in being part of the just talk to any of us at the event for more details.
